The Skylark sedan remained mostly unchanged on the outside for 1988. 5-speed manual transmission was dropped, a new Quad 4 engine was available, and 2-door models previously called Somerset now carried the Skylark name. Coupe models had flushed headlamps while sedans retained a four headlamp treatment. Other GM products sharing the same platform as the Skylark (N-Body) were the Pontiac Grand Am and Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais.
