The Model A Ford was the successor to the popular Model T, it first being released to the public on December 2nd, 1927. Ford desperately needed the Model A, with sales of the once popular Model T having been in decline for several years. By 1927 other manufactures, most noteably Chevrolet, had introduced the innovative production line techniques used by Ford, and were now not only more price competitive, but also far more individualistic, their offerings boasting a more comprehensive array of features and standard kit.
