Production of this fabulous front-engined supercar started
in 1974 although it was first seen in Paris some two years
earlier.
It was named after an Egyptian wind it was crafted
in steel with its glazed rear panel being a standout.
Air-conditioning was standard in these cars and they also
boasted an adjustable steering column and hydraulic seats.
Every engine was the classic Maserati four-cam V8 which
was mounted well back which resulted in very even weight
distribution when the car's tank was filled.
There were 4.2 and 4.7 liter versions with its torque
being outstanding - an amazing 481.4Nm at 4,000 revs.
Built as a successor to the Ghibli and Indy, the Khamsin
offered double-wishbone suspension, Citroen hydraulics
for its steering, brakes, clutch and pop-up headlights.
This car was viewed as a real supercar and is a unique
and highly collectable car. |
